Film School College Video?
I am a senior in high school applying to Chapman film school. I have to do a video essay in order to apply. Here’s the assignment:
Create a self-introductory video no more than two minutes in length. Your video should visually highlight something about yourself, your personality, your interests, etc. that is not related to film. The only rule is that you may NOT appear in the video in any way (including any photographs of yourself), so be creative. Videos can be as simple or complex as you like but should have a clear story. You do not have to edit this project; it can be one long shot. Video essays can be live action or a slide show of still images or photographs with text and phrases, or a combination. We are primarily looking for your strengths
at conveying a story visually and for evidence of your creativity rather than your technical abilities.
Some of my interests are
Acting
Singing
Musical theater
… anything artsy really
any unique ideas on how to do this?
Chapman is known for the experimental films so how about as a soundtrack have snippets of your favorite songs or songs that you have sung.
I think a cool idea would be to have someone kick a ball and each time the ball lands it ends up in a new place of something you like to do. So say you enjoy painting, have someone painting a picture and have them kick the ball off screen. Then the ball will appear and land on a new location of one your interests like on the stage of your school theater. That rolls off screen and then onto another one of your passions. Have it end it a cool way that ultimately defines you like a sidewalk chalk drawing of a collabortion of all the things the ball went through.
Another idea would be to edit together news clips and movies and tv shos together that tell a story about your life and events that occured through your life. with each clip only lasting a few seconds.
Your first clip could be of a woman screaming from giving birth. etc.

What questions are asked in a film school interview if someone is applying for a film direction course?
Hi guys! Please tell me what kind of questions are asked in a film school interview. Can someone please brief me on the dos and don’ts of a film school interview?
It depends greatly on the school, but the key is STORY. They don’t care if you have a ton of technical experience, they don’t care if you have seen and can quote and analyze every classic film, they want you to tell good stories in a clear and articulate manner. They’re also looking for someone who can work well with others, so a typical question might be, "tell me about a time when you had to collaborate with someone."
Another typical technique is they ask you is your favorite movie, then no matter what the movie they tear it apart and say it sucks- stick to you guns and defend it, they want you to have reasons why you think its a good film. They also do the reverse with bad films, make sure you have 2 films prepped and reasons why you like/hate them.
Make sure to have confidence without being cocky, filmmaking takes guts and tenacity, so show them you won’t cave under pressure, but don’t come across as a crazy tyrant.
Best bet, find an alumni of the school you’re going to and ask them about the interview process.
How does one get into film school after completing an undergrad degree?
I have an undergraduate degree in biology, but I want to go into film rather than med school.
How plausible is it to try to get into a graduate film school in this situation? How difficult or easy is it to get into film school in general? And would film school be a good idea for someone with little to no movie-making experience?
I’m looking to be a screenwriter or producer (but I’m not aiming as high as director just yet). I would also be interested in being a medical/technical advisor for a TV show or movie. Any advice would help.
do a short course – eg two months, in screenwriting or general film production techniques. Get some books on screenwriting and go to Drew’s script-o-rama and download some good scritps and analyse them. a good book is Ray Frensham’ s ‘teach yourself scriptwriting’
What rights does my school have to video filmed inside it?
I’d like to know if my school or county has any legal rights at all to videos that I film on school grounds. Can I post them on YouTube without worry?
I’m not absolutely sure, I think what you are doing is looking for a lawyer.
By asking your question it is obvious you have become parented, and may be crossing the line that doesn’t fall under, "Real unknowns".

Maybe Banff School for the Performing Arts? Or else National Theatre School in Montreal? I think York University in Toronto has a good arts program, and U of Torontp certainly does.

What university film school offers the best experience?
Ok so this is the thing.
I’m pretty sure that the best way to find a job after film school is to have contacts right?
What university film programme allows you to get those contacts? (in the USA and the UK).
For example, I know that the london film and television school has contacts with the BBC so it’s really benefical.
I also know that summer internships during your studies gets you contacts.
Thanks in advance!
The best experience would be NYU and UCLA… They are ranked really high in their arts category… You’re almost certain to get great connections…
